Causes
Most cases of having a disc herniation are result from jobs that involves lots of heavy lifting, sitting for a very long period of time (driving), overweight and getting into an accident that injured your back or spinal cord. This kind of situation may weaken the spinal disc and makes the spinal disc prone from being tear or ruptured that may result to a disc herniation. Another common cause of having disc herniation is from aging, especially on men around 30-40, at this age the body is not so flexible and doing strenuous activity, the wear and tear of the spinal disc may result the disc to rapture or tear which may result to disc herniation. Another factor of having disc herniation is having abnormalities on the spine present at birth, mostly on this cases lumbar is the affected area.
Prevention
As we grow older our body becomes more vulnerable of having disc herniation, to prevent having the said medical ailment it would be best to keep our body physically fit, maintain proper body weight, always take safety measure at work, don’t do too much strenuous physical activities and sports if you’re not physically healthy and always have a proper sleep (lying makes your spine more relax and makes it to recover from pressure from all days work and activities).
